Governing Board Brief - February 12, 2019The Governing Board met for the February Work Study and Brief Board Business Meeting on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. The meeting was called to order at 5:45pm.

The Board met for Executive Session to discuss the potential appointment of Mr. Jared Ryan as the Director of Community Education.


The Brief Business Meeting was called to order at 6:35pm.

The following Action Items were each approved with a 5-0 vote:

7.01 Approval of the Appointment of Jared Ryan as the Director of Community Education for the 2019-2020 School Year
7.02 Acceptance of FY2018 Revised Annual Financial Report (AFR) - Assistant Superintendent Business Services, Ms. Bonnie Betz presented the report.


The Consent Agenda was approved with a 5-0 vote.


The following Consent Agenda items were approved with a 5-0 vote:
8.02 Approval of 2018-2019 Parent Support Organizations
8.03 Approval of Overnight and/or Out-of-State Travel
8.04 Approval of Out of State Travel for Staff

The Brief Business Meeting was adjourned and the Work Study was called to order at 6:50pm.


The first item on the Work Study agenda was FFA Week (February 16-23, 2019) Proclamation. FFA students from around the district shared their favorite FFA program experiences. The Proclamation was then read by Board President, Mr. Reed Carr.


This was followed by the School Spotlights section of the Work Study agenda.


Traditional Programs - Principals Ms. Lana Moore (Canyon Rim Elementary) and Ms. Sharon Boomer (Spectrum Elementary), and Executive Director of Elementary, Mr. Jason Martin, presented to the Governing Board on the Traditional programs currently offered K-6 in the district. The Governing Board discussed and asked questions.


Performance Academy - Principal Ms. Dawn Koberstein, and teachers Ms. Nancy Linville and Ms. Maria Williams from Mesquite Elementary, presented to the Governing Board on the Performance Academy, launched this school year.  


RISE Program - RISE Coordinator, Ms. Justine Ingram, Executive Director of Secondary, Ms. Marcie Taylor, Highland Junior High Principal, Ms. Lisa Creaser, and RISE teacher Ms. Sarah Haverland, presented to the Governing Board.


Presentation of Prescription Benefit Manager and Provider Networks followed. Mr. Aaron Polkoski, Vice President, Benefits Consultant from Segal Consulting, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services, Ms. Bonnie Betz and Executive Director of Talent Management, Mr. Shawn McIntosh, presented and were available to answer questions. 


The meeting was adjourned by 9pm.
