 Governing Board Brief - April 9, 2019The Governing Board met for a board business meeting Tuesday, April 9, 2019.

The meeting began with the following calls for Executive Session, beginning at 5pm:

1.01 Call for Executive Session pursuant to A.R.S. 38.431(A)(1) to discuss the potential appointment of Jennefer Frost as the Director of Health Services.

1.02 Call for Executive Session pursuant to A.R.S. 38.431(A)(1) to discuss the potential appointment of Daniel Spetz as the Principal of Desert Ridge High School.

1.03 Call for Executive Session pursuant to A.R.S. 38.431(A)(1) to discuss the potential appointment of Dr. Joyce Meyer as the Principal of Mesquite High School.

The regular meeting was called to order at 6:40pm.

The following consent agenda was approved with a 5-0 vote:

5.02 Certified Personnel

5.03 Approval of Overnight and/or Out-of-State Travel

5.04 Approval of Out of State Travel for Staff

5.05 Ratification of Prior Month Financial Vouchers

The following action agenda items were approved with 5-0 votes: 

6.01 Approval of the Appointment of Jennefer Frost as the Director of Health Services for the 2019-2020 School Year

6.02 Approval of the Appointment of Daniel Spetz as the Principal of Desert Ridge High School for the 2019-2020 School Year

6.03 Approval of the Appointment of Dr. Joyce Meyer as the Principal of Mesquite High School for the 2019-2020 School Year

Requests to speak to the Governing Board in reference to agenda item 6.04 followed.  There were two requests to speak to the Board.

The Governing Board discussed action item 6.04, Approval of the Proposed Start and End School Times for the 2019-2020 School Year.  Mr. Paul Novak, Gauge Precision Consulting, Mr. Paul Potts, Director of Transportation and Ms. Bonnie Betz, Assistant Superintendent Business Services were available to answer questions.

There was a motion to approve Option 2.1 proposed start and end school times for the 2019-2020 school year.  The Governing Board discussed.

The Governing Board approved the amended agenda item 6.04, Approval of Option 2.1 Proposed Start and End School Times for the 2019-2020 School Year, with a 5-0 vote.

Option 2.1 is as follows:

                                           Start Time        End Time

All High Schools                 7:30 a.m.          2:20 p.m.

All Elementary Schools      8:10 a.m.          2:55 p.m.

All Junior High Schools      8:40 a.m.          3:30 p.m.
