2016 - 2017 Strategic Committees
A Steering Committee is a core group of staff appointed by the Superintendent, who serve a multi-year term, to provide high-level oversight of a major district-level initiative through the design and implementation stages. Steering Committees are primarily composed of members who have authority to direct decisions.
An Advisory Committee is a representative group of staff, parents and other constituents, appointed for a one-year term, to provide input and constructive guidance to a district leader(s) around a major initiative or body of work that is in its early stages of implementation or (re)development, or due to the continuous change process of the initiative, would benefit from constituent input.
A Work Team is a subcommittee of a Steering Committee and is primarily made up of staff, parents and other constituents who are actively engaged in and responsible for quality implementation of an initiative. Work Teams have a short-term annual charge and are disbanded after completing their specific charge. Work Team members are selected based on their expertise in the initiative.
