Adult Learning Programs
The Gilbert Adult Learning Program offers two programs to serve our community including:
- The Gilbert Adult Learning Program offers GED and Adult Basic Education/Adult Secondary Education (ABE/ASE) classes to help you prepare for the GED exam or to provide enrichment in the following areas:
- Language Arts (Reading & Writing
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
- College and Career Readiness
Our ABE/ASE/GED classes are designed to address the diverse educational needs of adult learners. We offer small class instruction in all four test areas and also have computer software, textbooks, and worksheets to complement your study plan.
When a student enters our program, standardized assessments in reading, writing and math are administered and the student's lesson path is determined. Individual assignments are made based on the results of these assessments. Students must attend registration prior to enrolling in a GED class. Classes are scheduled during the morning and evening to accommodate your schedule.
The next registration date for ABE/ASE/GED classes is March 4, 2019:

The Gilbert Adult Learning Program offers English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELAA) classes to provide instruction for people who desire to learn or improve their English language proficiency in order to enter the workforce or pursue post-secondary opportunities. Students who do not speak English as their first language will learn reading, writing, speaking and listening skills as well as computer literacy. College and career exploration, in addition to civics education, are topics also embedded in our curriculum.
Our next mandatory registration date for new students is Monday, February 25, 2019:
At registration, students are tested and placed in the appropriate level. Students must attend registration prior to enrolling in an ELAA class.
ELAA student registration is a three-day process. Students fill out registration paperwork on the first day as well as take a short locator test, and on the second day and third day, the full battery of tests are given. The overall registration process takes approximately 4 hours.
Mandatory testing for new students is the week of December 17, 2018. You will not be placed in a class if you do not attend registration and testing.
