GPS Professional Development Department is dedicated to providing
quality; research based professional learning opportunities for all
employees; certified and support staff. Courses offered through the
Professional Development Department focus on district goals,
initiatives, Arizona's College and Career Ready Standards, Professional
Learning Communities, professionalism and quality instruction in the
classroom. Each course provides participants the opportunity to
dialogue, collaborate and reflect as they continue to enhance their
professional knowledge and skills. Learning Forward’s Standards for
Professional Learning are embraced as an integral part of our
professional development program.
Providing a quality education to students of all academic levels remains the highest priority of GPS.
GPS believes that its greatest resources are those who work within our schools.
We harness the expertise that exists within our boundaries and
encourage our faculty and staff to become professional development
instructors and share their best practices, resources, and tools of the
trade. We also recognize the importance of utilizing the latest
researchers and practitioners from around the state and country.
Professional learning opportunities are published in a web-based
on-line catalog. This system allows employees to view their professional
portfolio, enroll/drop courses, request pre-approval or approval of
professional learning opportunities outside our district and help
facilitate the continuous learning cycle.

professional books, periodicals and resources with a workroom.
