Our students consistently perform well above the state and national averages on national standardized testing. A+ Recognition
The Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF) selected Patterson Elementary as one of the State's 17 schools named as A+ Schools of Excellence. A+ Schools of Excellence Program endeavors to improve education in public schools by identifying and recognizing outstanding Arizona schools. The A+ program strives to create a comprehensive framework of successful programs for other schools throughout the state and nation to follow.
A+ Schools are evaluated in the following areas: student focus and support; active teaching and learning; curriculum; leadership; community and parent involvement; and assessment data. Each A+ school is evaluated based on a lengthy application process and rigorous site visit by the A+ review panel. In the application process each school provides demographic information, documentation of parent and community involvement, a profile of the school and the principal including his/her vision for their commitment to excellence, equity, and service, as well as sustained high achievement or significant improvements in the school's assessment data. Patterson Elementary Named a Best Place to Work
First Elementary School to Earn Distinction
In 2007, Patterson was named one of the Best Places to Work in the Valley by BestCompaniesAZ LLC and the Phoenix Business Journal. It was the first time that an elementary school was honored with this distinction. Patterson Elementary ranked #16 out of 100 in the Small Company category. Winning companies are determined through employee surveys that measure satisfaction of their workplace.
Patterson Elementary opened in 1976 and has long enjoyed an outstanding reputation for its academic excellence, student programs, and school spirit. Patterson Elementary students consistently score well above the averages on state and national standardized tests. Patterson Elementary has also been labeled an ‘Excelling School’ by the Arizona Department of Education for the past three years.
